Chapter 9 tackles States Rights and their ability to govern themselves. It asked the question, Can states be sovereign The book looks back before the constitution was even created and looks at the evidence that indeed supports the claim, states have a right to be sovereign. And example used is that the 13 colonies, pre U.S, had their own laws and rights, and some were more unique than others.
Personal Opinion
It is interesting to read and see the reasoning in which the south had full right to govern themselves. It was also interesting to see what different presidents supported the claim, as most now know, Lincoln was a dirt bag only trying to rule over the union, instead of unifying it. The biggest supporter was Jefferson. He was for minimal government and people doing things for themselves. All in all, the book has really great information.
