English 3 lesson 55

English is an ever evolving language. Nothing is truly permanent. words gain new meaning and lose old ones. While this is good as it creates a unique hemisphere of discussion for the newer generations, it makes reading older English writings more difficult. Two especially. The works of Shakespeare, and the other the King James bible. Both of these works and writings were made for a different time, and historically show that. Both use English grammar and writing styles that are severely outdated in todays times.

To begin, the King James Bible is still the very Bible people use today. Even though some of the words are complex and the style is dense, it still holds up as one of the greatest literary works of the modern world. Much of modern Christianity was born from the King James Bible and because of that book, Christianity has had the chance to develop into the largest religion in the world. No matter how hard the writing may be to understand, there are still the most ritghoeus holy teachings still important to this day.

However, Shakespeare is some of the most fantastic writing in the world. In fact the writing is so good, it is though that Shakespeare was comprised of many different people operating under one false name. Stories of love and drama are what make Shakespeare an un-aging literature masterpiece. It is difficult to read and understand though. A majority of people struggle to figure out what was said and it takes very long to get through the reading. The phrases, and terms are severely outdated and because of that, it leaves the reader confused and wondering what they mean.

To answer the question, I do believe that Shakespeare is more difficult to read and is difficult to the average reader. Not only that, I think that is more important to understand the King James Bible more than other writings, as the KJB is a guide to Christianity and the teachings of Christ.

In conclusion, While both are dense to read, Shakespeare is worse. I say that as a Christian because I force myself to understand the KJB and understand the teachings inside, While I think Shakespeare is important, it feels more difficult to read as it isn’t related to Christ as much.
