Chapter 5 takes a break from the crimes committed by the North, and instead focus’s on the Moral right to be free. This chapter essentially talks about the fact that as American Citizens, under the constitution we have the right to freedom. The author then talks about the South’s right to freedom. The Civil war was started over succeeding from the union. That was the biggest reason Lincoln decided attack and invade the Southern U.S. The Author go’s into detail about President Jefferson’s opinion on freedom and discusses that fact that The government does not exist if the people think that way. Self governed group of people are the only group to last.
As for my opinion, the this chapter is a great chapter about the moral dilemma of freedom. It’s nice to see that people still believe a greater freedom above all forms of government.
