Don Quixote’s oaths
In most major writings or stories, the main character has a reflection point. A point in time in which he or she looks back over a period of time and relives the moments. usually looking back turns them into a newer more clear person with a higher sense of who they are, and whey they exist. Unfortunaly, for Don Quixote, the same cannot be said. Don Quixote was a man who lived in a false romantic reality for mush of his life. However, like all coins, there are two sides, He was a normal man with a normal oath, however, he was also a man with a delusion of reality.
To begin his life, he lived quite normal and simple. He believed in the lord, went to church, and practiced a life of every other. like everyone else at the time, he practiced western values and had held an oath to god. He was another brick in the wall. He was un-noticed and didn’t seek attention, fame or virtue, However, he was also obsessed with fantasy tales and writings of the knights of Spain. He had another side to his life of complete insanity. He thought he was a knight and that his job was to protect to village where he lived.
He made an oath to protect the town of all threats, 24/7. He promised to fight against armies, giants, invasion and other mythical made up threats. In the country and village in which he lived, there were no threats, No one was trying to invade, pillage or plunder. Instead, Don Quixote swore by his vow. He ended up becoming completely insane and a laughing stock for those around him. As others have analyzed, Giants were windmills, and invading forces ended up becoming a herd of sheep. He actually ended up beating up a few, and also hurting his horse. He did end up returning home later in his life.
When he returned, he fell ill and reflected on his life. He soon realized, that his fantasy was a figment of imagination and he was wasting his time doing nothing, There was a level of regret that washed over him. By the time he began realizing his mistakes, it was much to late, He was on his deathbed.
In conclusion, Don Quixote chose a path of pure insanity and deception. He ended up causing quite a but of harm in the end wasted a better part of his life. He could have chosen different path but ended up choosing a life of crazy. Like many stories, Don had a turning point and a reflection, but it was much to late to effect change.
