As I begin chapter 1, the book discusses the civil wars twisted history. This means that all that was written about it might not have been entirely true. In fact, it could be the work of Yankees. The book discusses the fact that the civil war was not fought entirely over slavery, but about the freedom of the south, from the oppression of the north. They persuaded people for years after the civil war that the south was evil. This is quite the opposite. In fact, the sons of the veterans to the south wrote many books about the true history, yet the North was quick to disprove and rewrite all that was put out.
My Personal opinion is that the book is well written. I think that Ill have to read more of it to fully be informed, a but as of now, it it clear that the North won bragging rights. By that, I mean they won the power to tell the story the way they want to. Weather or not the was a harmless effect or not, it has tainted the history of the Civil War. The South had been hushed because they lost and an incredible amount of American History was lost as well.
