Continuing with chapters 7 and 8, Thomas discusses Lincolns complete abandonment of the rules of war. It is discussed in the book, Lincoln felt no need for fair honest fighting, and rather decided to micro manage the war effort the entire time. He controlled alomost the whole war himself and always ordered the Generals around. Additionally, it was written how Lincoln would burn down southern towns as part of his grand strategy.
As chapter 8 moves foreword, it discusses Lincoln’s political career and the legacy he left after destroying the south. Even though the war had ended, for 12 more years the Republican party “plundered” the South. They had set up small governments to rule over people in the opposing states. They constantly raised taxes and most of the money went straight to the Republican Party.
Personal Opinion:
Every single time I open this book, my hate for Lincoln grows. Yet this is a good thing, as this book is an eye opener. This book has shown no one is who they say they are. No one ever is. This book is a great investigative piece into the world of lies Lincoln created for himself. No longer to me is he the great emancipator, he is the great lier, and thief.
