This week in the RPC, we read Montainges essays. Micheal de Montainge was a french Essayist who lived from 1533 to 1592. His works has earned him to one of the most well known and most well written about renissance persons of the period. He is credited and known for creating the new medium of writin in which the world heavily operates today. the essay. With Michel, the world would have not been able to adapt the new formatted writing style. Michel’s essays are known for his merging of different topics like biography, history and philosophy.
The essays of Montainge were written and then revised between 1580 and 1592. They are kept together over three books, with 107 chapter of varying size. The essays were orginally published in French for the kingdom of France. It is said that they were written to capture what Michel thought of the world and his humor. It is a known fact the the essays themselves are very interesting to read. His ideas and theries of the world around him make the 107 chapters actually enthralling. His thinking process, as some have stated, left his ideas unfinished, or unclear. Some were confused by a majority of the things he wrote. Each and every essay he wrote was completley un related to the one before or after. All of them were unique and different. They all offer a different view on something. He passion and dedication to his work are one te reasons he is so well known today.
All things considered, I would not read any more of his essays. That is not because the essays were boring, the were written in a different time with tremoundsly different grammar. to read what was assigned was astruggle to say the lease. Every line he wrote was grand and large ands made it nearly impossible to understand what was happeing. Some have pointed out that because there is no connection in the essays, that they just seem to be strange, random, and pointless. However, I disagree. I think that these writings showed determination and skill. Although I would not read anymore, I think that he is still an excellent writer who took his time to create a masterpiece for himself.
Montaigne is one of the most influential writers of the rennisance period. His work helped shaped literature for the rest of the world for a long time. Even though his writings were confusing and werid, he showed determination to his work and created something generations can admire forever.
