Personal Finance week 1

How Can I Control Small Expenses

Controlling small expenses can be extremely difficult for some people. Impulsive buying is something that a lot of people struggle with. There is an expression “That Money is burning a hole in your Pocket” meaning you cannot wait to spend. However even the most careful spender who always watches their finances struggles with unexpected purchases. For example, if an emergency comes up, there might not be any money to use, or they may be plenty, it just depends on the person.

Controlling expenses is not difficult with careful planning. However one thing that most people overlook is the fact that small expenses tend to add up over time. If every single time someone in line bought gum, that is going to add and add and add. If you ever find yourself low on money, look back into the week and see what was purchased. Perhaps on Monday someone is given $20. They may over a few weeks spend $2 here, $6 here, or $9 there Eventually, that adds up. Overtime, small expenses can be extremely hard for lots of people. However planning small impulsive buys can be done. It’s called budgeting, and when done correctly can save people thousands on bills and expenses. For example, If someone makes $1,000 dollars a week, than half should be immediately put into savings for the future. A quarter can go to small expenses and a quarter can go to important things like food water/bills. With this, a budget is given for small expenses but does leave someone high and dry when they need money. Even the most careful spenders still battle with small expenses.
