“If you had been listening to these stories in 1300, what would you have concluded from them is the way to gain eternal life?”
In the time of the 12th century, their lived a young man named Francis. He loved Christ with all his heart. While growing up, Francis lived in beautiful wealth. Then one day, he heard the lord call him. So he sold every thing he owned. He began to live in poverty, yet was happy with the lord on his side. he was a kind man with a good heart. He only wished to do good in the world. The world today needs people like Francis, who really want to help. Not for selfish reasons, but for reasons of pure love for the lord, and the people around him. He lived a holy life. He prayed lots, and preached as much as he could. He preached to anything, even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea. He loved the lord and wished to spread his message all over.
Francis and 12 others, with the green light from the pope, started the Franciscan order. The brothers of this group, lived in strict poverty ad obedience to the lord. They were very holy men who believed in the gospel entirely. In 1300AD, after Francis had passed, there was a book released called the little Flowers of Saint Francis of Assisi. The book is excellence and highly recommended for those who wish to grow their faith in the Christ. The book was and instant success and converted many people to Christianity. The book also discusses the afterlife. There are two paths a man can take. A path walked by the Christ, of Love and holyness. And a path away from the Christ, a path of regret and betrayal to Jesus. To walk the holy path means to be rewarded with eternal life and blessings. Being delivered from the evils of this world to be rewarded in the next.
The main goal of the book is to show people how to live with Christ in their hearts and souls. The book is centered around allowing love a light into your heart and breathing the breath of the lord. He be one with god and to become a better person. This book discusses the afterlife to inform people of what they should do in their life, if a man closes his heart to the lord, then he will have eternal damnation. Francis lived his life like the Christ. He had twelve followers, he loved everyone, he preached to all those he met. He had kindness in his heart for everybody he could see. That was how to be holy. That was what he was talking about. While many of us can’t walk around with 12 disciples, he wanted people to know that is was not hard to live like Jesus. Love your neighbors, even if they hate you. Pray for them, and keep away from them. Letting evil in your life will destroy your relationship with God.
They way to conclude what was gathered from the book is to look in the heart. Reflect on yourself and pray, “how can I become holy in the name of Christ.” To Francis, it was living a similar life to Jesus. This may not be the same for others. However, to reach eternal life, one has to walk with holyness in the head, and Jesus in their heart.
