Describe one or more possible roles plants could play in the future of humanity. How are these roles different than what occurred in the past?
Plants are the organic machine that continues to keep Earth moving. As we progress as the human race, the purpose of plants has changed so much that the purpose will change again as humanity continues onward. As some have stated, we have not had the ability to see the potential for plants, rather we have viewed them as just things around our feet. Now, and in the future, we see plants could be important for a plethora of things. For example, fuel. This is called bio fuel. Wheat and corn are excellent plants that could be turned into bio fuel. Also, house waste and animal waste can also be used as bio fuel. Another great thing plants will do in the future is continue to produce oxygen, without oxygen, the human race would be dead in minutes, however, plants take in the carbon monoxide, and then spew out oxygen. This is extremely helpful for the human race. It is hard to see all the possibilities that plants could have for the human race, for example, people hundreds ago did not know about bio fuels, and we are still unaware of the possibility of plants even now.
