Martin Luther believed that faith was the only way to achieve salvation.
  • Explain Calvin’s main points in the selection you read from the Institutes of the Christian Religion. How does Calvin answer those who say predestination makes God into a being who dispenses justice unequally? Calvin believed in predestination. He believed that God had laid everyone’s life out, and that some are meant to go to heaven, and others are meant to go to hell. Many people pressed him on this, but he said that people were born unfairly, like Abraham or Noah. Some people were favored in the eyes of God more than others.
