“What was the of importance of ethics and sanctions in the story of Noah and the Flood?” This could include God’s attitude toward sin, God’s covenant law with mankind, or Noah’s view of family ethics.

The Bible is the most important book in the word today. With all of its stories, it takes the reader through fascinating accounts of real moral narratives. The Bible is not only great for morals, but also great for looking at what the world was like back in that time. We learn what people thought of God, and why God did the things he did. However, one of the most important stories in the entire Bible is the story of Noah and the Flood, this account tells of when God destroyed the Earth, and all living creatures. However he spares a man and his family, God tells the man to build a boat, and he instructs the man of how to build it. God also states he must bring two of every animal and creature on the Earth, So that they do not go extinct.

As stated above, God tells Noah to build a boat, and bring all creatures from the Earth on to the boat. However, he only will bring two of each, so that they can reproduce after the flood, and start those bloodlines again. Noah does this and he is in the boat while it rains for 40 days and 40 nights. In total, him and his family were in the boat 150 days. Every seven days after the rain, Noah would send birds out to find land, if the bird came back, there was no land. He eventually sent a dove out to find land, and the dove returned with an olive branch. This now is the universal sign for peace. At that time, Noah knew their was land and he was safe.

Noah was very thankful God had spared him and his family. He built a temple to God where he offered burnt offerings. God was very happy with this. He told Noah and his family to be fruitful and to multiply. God promised that he would never destroy the earth again. He made a promise to human kind, to remind himself he made the rainbow to show that covenant between God and Man. Now every time there is a rainbow, it is a reminder that God would never again destroy the Earth and the living creatures on it. There are many important ethics within this story. For example, God will not destroy the man who does not deserve it. He spared the Man who did not deserve it, and he saved two of every animal,so those species did not go extinct. God spared those who did not deserve of the punishment. The reason God destroyed the earth was because of his view on sin. He knew it was evil and needed to be destroyed.

Noah was a very important man in human history, and also to the species of all living things. Noah survived the Flood with Gods Grace. Without God on Noah’s side, He would have surely died. After Everything was said and over, God promised to never again destroy the earth, or the people in it. There is lots that is ethical within this story. God killed sin, and saved the people who did not deserve the punishment of death.
