What was Equiano’s attitude regarding his life in the British Navy

Olaudah Equiano was born in the 18th century in Essaka. He, and many other kids were kidnapped and sold into slavery. He was around 11 or twelve at the time. He was sold to lieutenant of the British Navy. He began his life on the sea living with the Navy men. Olaudah had written an enthralling account of his life, and how he defeated personal struggles. He was a wise man, who learned many things. He is an important figure in slave history. Stories like his are how we understand what life was like for the slaves, and what their struggles were. W heather mentally of physically, this book shows that all problems can be overcome with grit and determination. He was kidnapped as a child, that is one of the worst things that could happen to a person, child or not. In fact, it makes it harder for them, because of their young ripe age.

As Stated above, Equiano had a very difficult life. He was kidnapped and sold into slavery at the ripe age of 11. He describes the grueling experience vividly through the chapter and the novel. His gripping account showed his struggles in his early life, and what his life was going to be like forever. He described every piece in great detail. He and his sister were kidnapped from their village in Africa. From there, they were separated, he went on a boat to Virginia. The sister’s whereabouts are unknown. However, he described in great detail, the horror and tragedy of the boat ride. Many died on the way over. The conditions were atrocious. They were crammed together like sardines. Disease was able to spread like wildfire. He even said that many slaves killed themselves on the boat ride. They would jump off into the could rough sea, day or night. This would be a terrible experience for anyone, But it makes it that uch worse going through this as a child.

When he arrived in Virginia, he was quickly sold to man who belonged to the British Navy. This single event changed his life forever. On the slave transport ship, he was miserable and uncomfortable. Anyone would feel this way. However when he lived on the Navy ship, he was happy. He was in love with the mystery and adventure of each day. He was a young boy, and all young boys find adventure and danger entrapping. Of course, he still had his fears about the slave ship, and he missed his sister everyday. However, the fears and worries lessened until he didn’t think about them much anymore. He decided to focus on each day, instead of dwelling on the past, or worrying about the future.

Equiano was just a young boy when he was sold into slavery. He was torn from his sister and sold into the British Navy. He found enjoyment in his time as a navy man. He loved the adventure, and he lost his fear of the Slave boat. Even though he was a slave, he found happiness in living on the boat with the men from the Navy.
