What local marketing advantages do I now have that I did not have when the week began?
Over the past week, I have gained insight into what it is like to run a local business. I have a understanding of how difficult running a business can be. For example, running a business is far more complicated than meets the eye. Consignment shops, restaurants, and cafe’s are some of the most difficult things to manage. Not only does the business and owner struggle to make their business popular, they also need the right tools and ideas to broadcast their items for sale. Through this week, we have learned how to create engaging advertisements, and what sells with a wide variety of people. Mr. North has gone through and explained the difference between good and bad advertisements. For example, something I have picked up on is, the larger the company, the simpler the advertisement. For example, when McDonald’s released they were going to be open at night, they cleverly used two lamps to create the famous golden M. This sold to a lot of people, and McDonald’s made a lot of money From that advertisement. Another very famous simple advertisement is the ad run by Skittles, “Taste the Rainbow” This again sold to a lot of people, and Skittles is recognizable by that phrase. Nike is a perfect example with the “Just do it” campaign. These are all good examples of what sells in the economy of today. There are plenty of bad advertisements in the world. We should look at those and learn why they failed. With the right advertisement everything can sell.
