  1.  What was the significance of the conflict between Philip IV and Boniface VIII? The conflict started in the 14th century when the pope wanted to separate from the state. Of course, the king wanted no part of this, as he wanted power over both church and state. The pope thought he should’ve had more power over the king, and the king obviously disagreed. In retaliation, the king taxed the public to fund his wars. He would also start wars without first asking permission of the pope, which at the time was customary.
  2. Based on the video and on your reading, what were the effects on Europe of the Black Death. The effects from the black death were very impactful. The black death refers the the two plagues the Bubonic Plague and the Pneumonic Plague. These 2 were running rampant through Europe and killed 1/3 of the population.
