What would I do in my autobiography that is different from what Darwin did
After reading Charles Darwin’s autobiography, I think that it would not be wise to follow Darwin as an example. After examining the book for myself, and hearing Mr. North’s examination, I found their were problems with the book. Problems such as details not being as vivid as they should. Another problem would be the fact that he does not talk about his accomplishments and how he got those. He does talk about very interesting things, such as his travels and how his life was. Because the book has these problems, it is hard for me to care what comes next. Mr. North in the video also expressed his opinion by saying it is not a page turner. In a sense, Darwin’s book failed, as it is supposed to grab readers attention.
As stated previously, Charles Darwin autobiography has some problems. The first of them being his lack of detail. In the book, he does not express certain details, and the book just is not that vivid. When reading a book, a mental picture should be formed, and the reader should be able to imagine what is happening in their head. With this book, there is not much of that. He does go into to detail for somethings, but for the important, not so much. My opinion of Charles Darwin did not change, nor did my opinion of evolution. I did not find the book interesting to read overall, but some parts he did well. Talking about his education, for me, was interesting because I got to see where a great mind went to school. I was able to learn somewhat about his interests such as shooting, but there was not a ton there.
In addition, he was focusing on things that were not important. For example he would talk about his books in the story, however, he talked about them too long, and they were books that were not very important or interesting. In this book, he does not defend his own theories or ideas. He will talk about them, but he will not explain why people had a problem with them, or why they were so important. He does talk about the books and theories that he published, but he doesn’t go into great detail about them. Usually the book creates sympathy, but their really is no feeling of sympathy for him because he talked about things very little. He does talk about being sick. Charles Darwin did become ill and was ill for a very long time, however there is no real detail about being sick.
Of course to sit and judge him would be wrong. He wrote the book the way he wanted to. That is respectable because he did what he wanted to do. Darwin put in what he wanted in the book, and the book came out the way it did. I would not write my Autobiography like his. To me, there is important things missing, and information that I wish was in their. I would include things that he didn’t. If I was famous for evolution, than my book would be centered around that, and why I thought that way. I would also explain why every one should think that way.
After reading Darwin’s autobiography, there are some things that I would do different. I would not write mine like his, nor should anybody who wants an interesting autobiography. Like stated before, it is not a real page turner, and I did not find it interesting. I am sure some people do. I can not bash Darwin because he wrote it the way he wanted. I would just not follow his style of writing.
