What can you do now to make your biography less disjointed than Twain’s? The auto biography that twain wrote was messy but functional. He had not set it up as a normal biography as he was just telling stories. He puts to much attention into the small things. Twain then puts too little attention to the things that actually matter. The book is still an interesting read with fascinating stories, there is just some things that he could have done differently.
Twains book is definitely a work of art and an important part of American literature. Although he did not write his book in the traditional way, it is still a good interesting read. If he followed the normal parts of an autobiography, then it would have been even better. As desirable as the book is now, there still is work to be done on it.
Something he could have done was focus on the more important stories. Through out the book Twain has a theme of sticking to the less important stories, and ignoring the bigger picture. If twain did this, and he focused on the more important memories, for me, the book would make more sense. Hitting the big parts of his life are what I want in an autobiography so organizing his memorizes is something he should have done. Simply by writing them down, he could easily determine which of the memories and important and which of the memories are not. This would easily improve the story and make for a mush better read.
One last thing that he should have done from the beginning was when he knew he wanted to write the autobiography he should have started writing all of his ideas down into a journal. This way he could have kept all his things in order and he wouldn’t of had this problem to begin with. The book is choppy with misc. things thrown in to each chapter for the reader to digest. Although this book is a good read, things are just not in order. It would also allow him to remember everything in his life, if he started early enough. The hardest part of the autobiography is trying to remember everything, and making sure you have all the important details. So writing things down would have been a great way to write his autobiography.
From reading what I have of the book already, it seems that Twain focused on the less important things, and did not focus on the important things. He also from the second he knew he wanted to write an autobiography They are interesting stories and well written, it just needed to be more jointed, than disjointed.
