Writing an autobiography takes lots of time and practice. However when mastered, the readings can be great. But some autobiographies will not be so great. What makes the autobiographie so enjoyable to read are many things. First off, the writing style of the author. Maybe he doesn’t go in chronological order. Or maybe he writes in a way that works for some people and not for others. Most of the time, what makes an autobiography great is the stories that they hold. When writing an autobiography, the writer almost always goes from memory. However with writing from memory there are some things to consider. These are accuracy, succinctness, or liveliness. Three of the most important things to consider when going through your stories. However, not one just one of these is the most important.
The first one that is the most important when writing from memory is Accuracy. There should be accuracy with places, close dates, and of course with the dialogue. If there is going to be a conversation with someone, accuracy is obviously the most important thing. The writer should know exactly what was said. It is important enough to be in a book about their life. So writing the autobiography dialogue should include the most accuracy. However it is also not limited to conversations. Accuracy should also take place in other aspects such as places, and dates. First with location. A writer should know exactly where it takes place as it is crucial to the story. If it is included in the book, It should be pretty accurate. Lastly on Accuracy, the dates should also be as close as possible. If a date seems to be out of place or missing, it will cause holes in the writing, and could ultimately affect the book, if it was important.
Secondly, With writing an autobiography the second most important thing is succinctness. Writing accuracy is important, however if it is a large subject such as a conversation with someone that cannot be fact checked, it is the next best thing. WHen writing with success it helps get the idea around. The writing style will let the reader know what is happening, and why. Success is the best to get the most of the writing without being completely accurate. However success isn’t as great as accuracy as said before it leaves holes in the story, and may create a bad book review. Some historical aspects of autobiographies are very important, so having a combination of the two will lead to a good story with not too many missing pieces.
Writing an autobiography is a time consuming process. It takes lots of time to figure out what works, and what does not work. When a writer finds his style he then has a more difficult task. That is writing the book, from memory. With writing the autobiography the author must have a mis of Success and Accuracy. Liveliness is important, however not nearly as important as Success and Accuracy.
