1.)The art piece that will be discussed is the Riace bronzes. The piece was created around 460-450 BC. There are two pieces in the collection, and they are also called The Riace Warriors. They are depicted in the nude. The two pieces were found in 1972 near southern Italy. They belong to the transitional period. The art has geometry, and parts of impossible features, “under a realistic” surface. The period is important because this is where the Greeks more focused on deeper philosophies like Humanism, Rationalism, and Idealism. The pieces are important to the time because the sculpture reflects the time period. The sculpture shows, “idealized geometry and impossible anatomy under a distracting and alluring ” realistic ” surface.”
2.) First off, the Hebrews only believed in one god. They thought there was one holy being, and nothing else. The Greeks, however, believed in multiple gods and believed the gods controlled parts of the world. The Greeks religion was polytheism, or the belief in multiple gods and even goddesses. The Hebrews religion was monotheism, or the belief in one god.
