Jim Lehrer was one of the most well known reporter and news caster, who shaped the way of news. However what may not be known is the fact that he had a heart attack. This heart attack completely changed his life, and the way he viewed things.
Lehar’s Heart Attack was very difficult and painful for a long time and he had a long recovery, but in the end it helped Lehrer rebuild and restructure his life. Lehrer Survived the heart attack and that was a very important miracle. As said in the book, he beat the heart attack, and beat the grim reaper, Lehrer’s usually died when going to a hospital, but this time, he beat the curse and lived through the worst experience of his life.
With surviving the heart attack, the four lists came along. The lists were based off of how he wanted to live the rest of his life, these lists contained lots of changes. One of these lists is the healthy living list. He would try to be more active and exercise more often. He then made a list for his hobbies. This list is for collecting bus signs. Jim really enjoyed this and he wanted it to become a bigger part of his life. He then made the life priority list, and decided what was going to be most important in his life, with who and what came first. Lastly, he made the stress list, where he would try to work through the things that stressed him out.
The book then talked about the recovery stages. Jim said that he lost the urge to smoke. This is good because now he is living a little healthier and beat an urge that is very tough for a lot of people. Then the book talks about his times in the work out room, where he would find company with other people recovering. This is where he could discuss and problems he had, and really work through them.
With that, he also changed his eating lifestyle and cut out all of the unnecessarily un healthy eating that he has done since a young boy. This cut out everything he had eaten since a young child, and added the things that he had never ate. He then went back into working, but this time less news, and writing more fiction. He did write 19 books, all of which were published this was a very big success in his life.
Without his heart attack, his life could have gotten a lot worse. He could have eaten worse, smoked more, and probably have a heart attack, except this time he could have died. This heart attack did truly change his life and mind and without it, he wouldn’t of beat the addiction to smoking, he wouldn’t’ have eaten any healthier, and he certainly have would not changed his career choices. This heart attack reshaped him completely going from a stressed work acholic, to an easier going man.
